Situational Italian { Italiano Situazionale
CIAO offers introductory classes on the Italian language.
Situational Italian is an introduction to the Italian language. It is offered to CIAO members of any age, background and ethnicity who would like to learn and practice Italian language skills. Each class lasts about two hours. CIAO member Pasquale DiGiacomo prepares the study material and leads the in-class sessions. Because it is a membership benefit, this instruction program is available to CIAO members only.
The instructional philosophy is to emphasize conversational phrases that apply to common situations found in everyday life as well as those that would be useful to travelers. Attendees will have a chance to practice speaking and will role-play various situations that make use of the conversational phrases.
Situational Italian is divided into two groups, each of which meets once a month.
The Beginner group is for those wishing instruction on language basics. Attendees will learn pronunciation as well as elementary grammar and vocabulary. No prior experience is assumed.
The Advanced group is for those who have taken the beginner class or otherwise have some basic language proficiency. Readings will be provided and members will have the chance to read aloud and carry on discussions
For specific schedule information on upcoming meetings, see the Upcoming Events listings.
Those interested in attending a class or learning more about them should contact Pasquale DiGiacomo.
